Concert in the Park Series
Greenway Park
Tuesday, July 31, 6-8 p.m.
Join the Tualatin Hills Park & Recreation District as we celebrate parks and summertime with a free community concert at Greenway Park. Bring your family, a lawn chair or blanket, and meet your neighbors and friends for a summer evening of fun and music. Rock the evening away with Jesse and the Night. Pizza and drinks will be available for purchase, or bring your own picnic. No alcohol allowed.
Artist: Jesse and the Night
One of the Northwest's best-kept secrets came here from New Orleans. Jesse Young (guitar/vocals) met fellow transplant Mark DiFlorio (drums/vocals) in the weeks following Hurricane Katrina and began spicing up a Sunday brunch as a duo at a popular New Orleans-style restaurant in Portland.
These Sundays became so popular, they decided to expand their range by recruiting bass player Don Corey (Jujuba, Chata Addy, Flatland) and local keyboard legend Frankie "The Funkmaster" Redding (Big Mama Thorton, Norman Sylvester).
Jesse and the Night will do their own original funky covers of timeless artists such as Dr. John, Nina Simone, and Clarence "Gatemouth" Brown.
